Anti-Bullying Alliance wants children to speak up about
bullying
Lauren Seager-Smith is the National Coordinator of ABA, which is
hosted by the National Children's Bureau. She said: "'We are
excited to be working with RHCP to bring the subject of
bullying to life through story telling. We hope the book club will
inspire children to read about the experiences of others and
to speak up about theirs. Children who experience bullying need to
know that they're not alone. They need to know that they can speak
up and that they will be heard."
RHCP publish a range of books for children and young adults with
bullying as a theme, including titles from bestselling authors John
Boyne, Malorie Blackman, Jacqueline Wilson and Anne Fine.
Lauren Bennett, Publicity Manager at RHCP says "We are thrilled
to be working with such a fantastic organisation and we hope that
through literature we can educate children and inspire kindness and
understanding. We hope that through reading and discussion
children will feel encouraged to celebrate their differences and
those of others."
The first book will be the best-sellingWonderby R.J.
Palacio. Wonder tells the story of Auggie Pullman - a young boy
born with a rare facial disfigurement, who faces life in a new
school.
Wonderauthor R. J. Palacio says "One child at a time, one person
at a time, there's no greater antidote to bullying than the
steadfast refusal of children, teachers, and parents to accept a
culture where bullying is tolerated. I am delighted to be working
with the Anti-Bullying Alliance and hopeWonderwill inspire children
to be kind to one another"
Children and teachers from the ABA School and College Network
will review the books. Their insights will be shared through the
ABA website, which will hopefully inspire others to read the titles
and, in turn, encourage children to speak up about bullying.
