Types of Membership

There are three types of ABA membership:

Core membership

Core membership is open to organisations whose work relates to children and young people and who have a substantial remit for and/or expertise in tackling bullying.

Core Members must: 

  • agree with ABA’s Statement of Purpose and values framework 
  • have a substantial focus on delivering projects and programmes that aim to reduce the incidence of bullying and create safer environments for children and young people 
  • agree to participate in the work of the ABA (including regular attendance at members meetings) 
  • contribute to discussion and debate within the ABA in order to further the understanding of effective anti-bullying practice 
  • provide contact details of a senior staff member who will attend the ABA members’ meetings 
  • undertake to disseminate ABA information within their organisation Local authorities can join the ABA at a national level while remaining members of their regional ABA network

Core Members receive the following benefits: 

  • use of the core member logo
  • the right to vote for members of the ABA Advisory Group 
  • the opportunity to stand for election to the ABA Advisory Group 
  • the opportunity to take part in ABA consultations e.g. on government proposals receive ABA e-bulletins 
  • attend ABA members meetings and conferences

Associate membership

Associate membership is open to organisations that do not have a specific remit for anti-bullying work but are clearly in support of ABA's aims and values, share a commitment to creating safe environments for children and young people and want to help promote the anti-bullying message.

Associate Members must:

  • agree with ABA's Statement of Purpose and values framework
  • support and promote anti-bullying messages when delivering their projects and programmes

Associate Members receive the following benefits:

  • use of the ABA Associate Member logo
  • receive ABA e-bulletins
  • attend ABA conferences

ABA Supporters

ABA supporters are organisations that may not have any specific remit or role for working with children and young people or for tackling bullying. They do, however, agree with ABA's aims and values and wish to demonstrate their support for ABA financially or in kind.

ABA Supporters receive the following benefits:

  • Use of the ABA Supporter logo
  • PR and marketing opportunities through sponsorship of ABA conferences, Anti-Bullying Week and other specific initiatives
